So are you up for the Challenge?
Welcome to our "Walk a Mile
a Day Challenge" webpage. Since we started walking last year and have
committed to do so on a regular basis, we're continuing this healthy
lifestyle and encourage everyone else to join us and do the same.
We've adopted walking regularly not so much for weight-loss but mainly
for other health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease,
stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and certain
types of cancer, etc...
Did you know regular physical activity, such as walking, can also
make you feel better because it helps keep your bones, muscles,
and joints healthy, reduces anxiety and depression, boost your mood
and helps you handle stress, makes you feel more energetic, helps
you sleep better, and improves your self-esteem?
Our "Walk a Mile a Day" Challenge
Last year we started walking regularly in the later part of February
and according to Ron's Cardio Trainer app on his smartphone, he logged
in 352 workouts and walked 354 miles (just a few miles shy of 365
miles) and burned a total of 50,374 calories for the year. His goal this year is to beat last year's
record and surpass 365 miles which is basically a mile a day a year. A 20 minute walk
(brisk walking at a 3.0 mph pace) basically equals one mile. You can spare
20 minutes to a half hour a day to walk, can't you? Will you?

If you are up for the challenge, "Like" our Walk a Mile a Day" Facebook
page for more information and tips and also let us know that you have
taken on the challenge. We'll be using this Facebook page to encourage
and support everyone to meet their own personal goal, whether it's
walking a mile a day for the year 2012 or from their very own start
date. Everyone is welcome to post information and tips and encourage
others as well!
So what do you say? Are you up for the challenge?
